Welcome to the Smackdown Review for June 4, 2019 For both this and Raw, I will go over what the big talking points were, pick the match of the night, and look ahead to the next show

Talking Points

Tough Times

For most of their feud, it has been Ziggler who has done all the talking (doing a damn good job). On Tuesday, Kofi was finally allowed to retort. While Ziggler’s story eerie has mirrored Kofi’s The New Day Member brought up an important difference. Showing Ziggler giving up the US Title, Kofi said that the main difference between them is that Kofi never quit when things got hard. It was good to see the Champion bring a strong A game for the final promo.

R-Truth

While some have questioned the 24/7 title, R-Truth has made it matter. Tonight, he was put against a Elias in a lumberjack match. After Elias won, he was attacked by the wrestlers, but managed to make it out of the ring. He was attacked by Truth and was pinned under the mat. The lengths that Truth will go to in order to keep his belt give it a lot more weight. You want to see him escape again and again.

You’re Next

Maybe Undertaker and Goldberg are not in their prime any more. Maybe the match on Friday won’t be technical or long. The fan inside of me always wanted to see this match and never thought it was possible. Goldberg talked about how he was still as intense as ever and that the Undertaker better be prepared. The lights went out and suddenly Taker was in the ring. The adult thinks it might not be 5 stars. The 13 year old was cheering right along with the crowd.

Match of the Night

Carmella vs. Alexia Bliss vs. Charlotte (Bliss wins by pinfall to become the number 1 contender for the Smackdown Women’s Championship)

This gets the nod for the surprise factor. Bliss is technically a Raw superstar and now she will challenge Bayley at the next pay-per-vew. Carmella was the unsung hero of this match, moonwalking and breaking up pinfall attempts. It’s nice to see Bliss the winner and her and Bayley can revisit the rivalry from a few years ago.

 Conclusion

The New Day beat Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Andrade was attacked by Finn Balor
