Definitely rated M for mature, Trover Saves the Universe, from Squanch Games Inc, is here with hilarious content, a crazy universe we’re all in to, and an adventure that doesn’t feel super platformery. There is a lot of battle and a unique story to go along with all of the random characters too. If you already love Rick and Morty, then Trover Saves the Universe is going to be for you.

Glorkon, your enemy, has kidnapped your dogs and decided to stuff them into his eye sockets. Why? Because Glorkon wants to use their dog essence to destroy the universe of course. Your job is to follow Trover, who doesn’t really like you, and you know, save the universe and stuff.

You’ll be involved in controlling Torver and traveling all over the universe to look for the mean Glorkon and kick some alien butt. While traversing the sky, you’ll be going to seeing a lot of different planets and getting some hysterical comedy too. Built with a lot of blood, gore, and language, the space jumping is still fun and really simple. Whether you’re playing on the PC, VR or on TV, everything is easy to control. VR is pretty easy if you really want to hack and slash it out though.

Not surprisingly, the familiar voice we know from Rick and Morty is back to lead us through the plot with some familiarity (Thanks Justin Roiland). Not only can we already relate to the bizarre characters, but we can all see what we’re about to get in to. The characters are bizarre and alien, but human experience is universal right? The developers also decided to keep the game at full price for longer than normal so that the fans didn’t have to pay extra for the upcoming DLC. This thought process makes the rough 5-hour game a lot more worth it. Of course, now we’re all wondering what else will be added.

Without giving too much away, Trover Saves the Universe is a quirky bright game with a great plot. The plot moves smoothly just like the controllers. Even with such a crazy story, we’re all behind it. We’re ready to go with whatever story Squanch Games wants to throw at us. We must save the dogs!
