For those that grew up playing retro games like Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, or Sonic the Hedgehog, this game is for you! It reminded me of the days of trying to rescue the Princess in the other castle.
The character the player plays is Timmy who is tasked with rescuing the kings daughter who was kidnapped. It is up to you on whether you do that with a hero’s flair. When I first played, I accidentally set a bomb off near my character and the game chastised me for it. My character then came out of the house red (which symbolized that he got badly burned) and had to start over again on the adventure. This isn’t ideal for me because I’ve grown so accustomed to save points, but the sarcastic prompts make me want to give it another try.
What drew many people, including myself, to this game was the fact that there are multiple endings. This wasn’t an option back in the day like it is with newer style games. I am curious to see what the other ones are as I’ve only played through the one ending.
The controls aren’t easy to handle as the jump and interact button aren’t accessible with the other hand, but the player is able to adjust as the play style is slow-paced. There are multiple weapons to use in the players adventure to save the kings daughter and become the hero he thinks he is.
This game is geared towards those who remember the days of playing at the arcade and having to start from the beginning. One review on Steam said “Tripped over a rock and died. Most realistic video game death I’ve ever seen.” (Alpha_pro, Steam) If I’m being honest, that is likely the way I would die.
