Welcome to the Extreme Rules review for July 14, 2019.
Finn Balor and Nakamura look aggressive right out of the gate. Maybe a little bit of pride being on the preshow?
Balor is slamming him into the guardrail again and again. Nakamura hits a knee to the back of the head and then the Kinshasa for the pin. Balor might need to join a Club to get over this one.
Drew Gulak and Tony Neese are on next.
Slower pace then last month, but still a good one. Gulak is the home town boy and it shows. He picks up the win and is pretty pumped about it.
Main show time
Roman Reign and the Undertaker vs Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon are up first. No Holds Barred. The notoriously tough Philly crowd welcomes Reigns with open arms. They really hate Shane.
GONG!!
If Super Showdown was Undertaker’s low point, this is redemption. Everything looks crisp and on point. Old School. Leg Drop on ring apron. The crowd said it best “You still got it”
Elias comes out of nowhere and hits Undertaker with a guitar. McIntyre hits a Claymore on Reigns and Undertaker. Shane hits a flying elbow on Undertaker through the table. Shane hits a coast to coast.
Taker sits up and Chokeslams Elias and Shane. Reigns hits a spear on McIntyre and Taker tombstones Shane for the pin. Good match.
Remarks by Cole and company after the match might be setting up Taker’s farewell tour.
Old School Raw, now called Raw Reunion, will be one week from Monday. One of my favorite nights.
The Revival vs. The Usos for the Raw Tag Team Titles. No gimmicks in this match.
The Revival are their gimmick. Every move or tactic, you can think of several classic tag teams doing the same thing.
Two great near falls are broken up by both teams. The Revival hits the Shatter Machine for the pin. Who will be the next team to step up?
Aleister Black vs Cesaro. This could be the show stealer.
Cesaro flips to his feet and then sits cross legged to mock Black. Black drops him outside the ring and then proceeds to sit as well. This is NXT Black.
You can just see how MMA works for Black. Everything looks like he could be using it to win gold in UFC. Cesaro grabs a jumping Black and pushes him up for a uppercut.
“This is awesome!”
A uppercut party for both men. Black hits a Black Mass that looked like it killed Cesaro. Black picks up the win. The crowd saw a great one.
Truth and Carmella are putting up posters for Maverick. Bliss and Nikki get matching shirts. The Street Profits show up with their brand of awesome.
Nikki and Bliss vs Bayley is up. Will this strange alliance hold up?
Bayley is so much more aggressive. I have never seen a wrestler go through a switch without changing from face to heel or a complete revamp of the character. Bayley hits the steps face first.
Bayley jumps onto Nikki on the floor. She then hangs up Bliss in the ropes. She suplexs Bliss onto Nikki. She then puts both women into a submission. Wow!
Bayley hits a diving Nikki with a knee and then hits a flying elbow. Bayley looked so strong, Nikki and Bliss felt like the underdogs the whole time.
Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley in Last Man Standing. What can they do to top going through the screen two weeks ago?
The fight spills out into the crowd. Lashley is destroying Strowman. Strowman turns it around by suplexing Lashley into the back of the WWE shirt table.
Lashley pushes Strowman through the barrcade. It breaks apart. Strowman is buried under a table. Lashley gets a running start, but Strowman throws him into the international announcers table.
Powerslam from the top of the balcony. Strowman comes out of the wreckage to win. That was an Extreme Rules Match!
Triple Threat Tag Team up next. New Day, Heavy Machinery and Bryan and Rowan in action.
Rowan is the big bull early. He takes down Otis and Tucker and then Woods. Big E flies through the ropes. Otis wants to follow, but thanks better. Tucker takes out everyone from the top rope.
Big E powerslams Heavy Machinery. He suplexs Rowan, but Bryan is the legal man. He puts on a submission move, but Big E escapes. Bryan kicks E, but it just pisses him off. Woods and E hit the Up Up Down Down and are 6 time champions!
Paul Heyman comes out on his show and says maybe Lesnar will cash in or not. AJ Styles vs Ricochet for the US Title is next.
Both of these men make everyone they work with look great. They keep trading punches and no one gets a real advantage. This must be liking fighting yourself.
No interference by Gallows and Anderson yet. Ricochet counters a Styles Clash in a hurricanrana. Dueling chants for both. Ricochet kicks Anderson through the ropes. Gallows trips up Richochett and Styles hits a Styles Clash from the top rope for the win.
Kevin Owens vs Dolph Ziggler is next. Owens hits a stunner for a quick pin. He grabs a microphone and continues his rant against Shane. Samoa Joe and Kofi for the WWE Championship is up next.
Joe hits a back chop, a move you really don’t see. Every time Kofi starts going, Joe cuts him off. Kofi finally gets going with a big drop kick. Joe hits a nice right.
Joe crushes Kofi’s hand under the steps. This is Extreme match with no such stipulation. Joe moves from submission to submission move. Kofi counters the Clutch, but Joe just throws him down. Kofi hits an SOS out of nowhere for the win. Kofi survived that match.
Main event time. Can Corbin and Lacey beat The Beast Slayer and The Man?
Corbin brings a kendo stick into the fray. Rollins and Lynch bring their own and proceeded to whip both of the challengers. Corbin hits Rollins with a chair.
Lynch hits Lacey with a chair, and proceeds to beat her around the ring. Lacey gets a bulldog and a Bexsploder on a chair. Lynch drop kicks a chair right in Corbin’s face.
Lacey and Corbin regain some control after a few well placed shots. They team up with some kendo sticks to welt Rollins’s back. They hit two chokeslams on the champs. Lynch and Rollins put the two through two tables.
Corbin hits a End of Days on Lynch. Rollins goes nuts and hits three curb stomps for the pin. Brock Lesnar comes out and cashes in. Lesnar hits a F-5 and gets the pin. Lesnar is the new champ.
