After Capcom brought Monster Hunter World to the west for consoles, they decided to release an expansion now that the game has been around for awhile. For hardcore players, their campaign has already been completed and they now need more to work on, while other players took a more relaxed route but are excited none the less. adds a nice addition to an already good game, but it also comes with one downfall.
Iceborne is an expansion that is graced with fantastic graphics and the excitement of a new environment and some new monsters too. For players that are not so mastered at the game, such as myself, the Iceborne release seems like a cool addition that really has to be worked for. This is probably the biggest downside. You can only go through this expansion if you’ve completed the main campaign. Specifically, the monsters here are not easy and provide a greater challenge.
Despite not being able to get to the new campaign until finishing the main one, the environment looks fantastic. This new map is snowy and cold. Monsters come from ice and look like they came straight from Frozen but in a good way. In most ways, the new monsters look familiar, like they’re mutated versions of the main monsters. Even with that being a noticeable thing, players get a new tool and skins etc. The “Clutch Claw” adds a new skill that allows you to climb on to the monsters. Plus, you get to use the claw in the main campaign too.
If you haven’t gotten the game yet, Capcom has two options; get the game including the expansion, or transfer your existing profile to the Iceborne addition. Also, right now players will have to get Iceborn on PS4 because the PC version won’t be available until sometime next year.
Whether you are a seasoned player or not, Monster Hunter World Iceborne is a good addition to the main campaign. The game really needed something like this to spice up the game and keep a good thing going. Despite having a long way to go to get to the new campaign, the journey is well worth it. I encourage players to get the game and keep working and grinding.
