Strange things are bound to happen when a US Army base that has top secret experiments get loose near a kids petting zoo. Zombies to be specific. A Kindergarten class is in for a rough time in this horror/comedy.
As seen above, Dave (Alexander England is a down-and-out musician who is aimless in life. He recently just broke up with his girlfriend and is couch surfing on his sister’s couch. While there he starts to bond with his nephew Felix, who is a little sheltered. He was, as he put it, a “test tube” baby. Which he is made fun of by his classmates.
One day, Dave takes Felix to school and this is where he meets Felix’s teacher Miss Caroline (Lupita Nyong’o). A very sweet bubbly teacher whose kids adore her. She is very aware of her effect on the men who drop their children off to her. Even still, she couldn’t shake Dave off easily as he decided to be a chaperone on their trip to the petting zoo.
The US Army had a breach in security and several zombies escaped from containment. This results in them escaping the base and heading towards the petting zoo not too far away. Once they do arrive, Miss Caroline does everything in her power to keep the children safe while also keeping them unaware of what is happening.
Lupito Nyong’o is the heroine that I needed to see. She has a very calming presence but can unleash hell on the zombies and those who endanger her students. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and highly recommend to those who love horror/zombie movies but also love a feelgood film.
Little Monsters is on Hulu now!
