One of the biggest classics in gaming is the racing game. Many kids rush to the arcade still to play the racing games just to get behind the wheel. Other fans of racing simply get behind the controller and will race anything and everything. Codemasters has upgraded their game in the new game, Grid. New graphics appear in this reboot, but that’s not all a racing game is. Even the classics have some setbacks too.
Grid is meant to be a reboot. This time around the graphics are really updated and the sensitivity during racing is touchy too. Each car has its own unique feel which can be both good and bad. The downside is that the tracks are far and few between. Compared to other games, there are a set few tracks that become repetitive. The AI is pretty advanced. Different styles of racing and it becomes more aggressive if you hit them.
Since Grid is a multiplayer game, you get your friends together for a good old’ fashioned race, some things start to fall apart. The racing part is easy but players get put in to cars they didn’t select and didn’t customize. This makes the racing difficult for most, and on the other side, more competitive, if you see it that way. Most players don’t like this inability of choice however. In order to change your vehicle and make any changes, the player must purchase what they want in-game.
All-in-all Grid is pretty much the same as Grid Autosport. It seems that it’s missing the wow factor of being updated. Gamers that love cars will love this game, but hopefully the next installment will have a little bit more under the hood.
