One of the best parts about the current climate is that gamers are getting games that they might have missed the first time around. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, created by Media Vision, is one such game. A Sony exclusive, the game has now been released for more platforms. How does the Digital World Monsters stack up?
Your character, a male of female named Aiba, is a hacker who receives a mysterious invitation. There is a cyber network where people are digitized into the digital world. Shortly after receiving something called a “Digimon Capture”, Aiba is attacked by a creature. The creature somehow manages to affect Aiba, leaving the player half normal, half digitized. Approached by detective Kyoko Kuremi, Aiba joins her to investigate cyber crime. Aiba will also discover creatures called Digimon.
Cyber Sleuth is a role playing game. You have your started Digimon and you gather more as the game progresses. When confronted by hostile creatures, you command your team to attack. There are 249 Digemon in the game. There are three main cases to solve which occur at the same time. Completing the game unlocks a new game +, with all items intact.
Cyber Sleuth looks great as well. The colors pop off the screen as you battle in the digital world. The action menu might be a little intimidating at first. but players will get the hang of it. The story is a little thin, but provides more then just kids trapped in the digital world. Digemon has always played second to Pokemon, but this game actually feels like a worthy challenger.
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a great introduction to the Digimon video game series. You can jump right in without feeling lost. The game is the complete edition, so you also get the sequel Hacker’s Memory as well. Two games for the price of one? Pokemon can’t touch that.
