Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is an experience characterized by a tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and can move down the entire body. It is produced by triggers, such as hand movements, eating or certain sounds. There is a feeling of euphoria and it can be used for sleep and to help ease anxiety. We take a look at some of our favorite ASMRtists and some of their best videos.
WHO
Scottish Murmurs comes from across the pond to give us tingles and help people sleep. When she is not working her magic, she is all about staying fit or playing with her adorable Alaskan Malamute, Hugo. Accents can give tingles very easily and Scottish Murmurs has not only her natural Scottish one, but other accents as well. Let’s take a look at some of her videos.
FIRST VIDEO
Posted on August 26, 2016, Murmurs first ASMR video was a roleplay where you are applying for job at Meridian Response Pharmaceutical. You meet the receptionist and then the boss. There is a lot of detail in this first video, as Scottish Murmurs puts in a green screen image as well as office sounds. She seems very natural the first time on camera.
MOST VIEWED
In this video, you get two ASMRtists for the price of one. This video has Scottish Murmurs tracing and massaging the back of Creative Calm. Murmurs and Calm have done a lot of videos together and you need to see all of them. This video also shows that tingles can be introduced by touch or by watching the motions. Also, count how many times Creative Calm laughs.
Video That Shows Some Impressive Skills
Scottish Murmurs has a flair for putting on different accents. She sometimes puts on an American one or teaches the viewer German words. This skills translates to impersonations as well, as she does 15 ASMRtists. They are all good, but the Gibi one is perfect. It sounds as if she is just mouthing the words as Gibi speaks. A real treat if you are a fan of ASMR.
PERSONAL FAVORITE
After a voice over intro, you find yourself in the home of the Scottish Sleep Witch. Not only is this video super tingly, it’s also fun as The Witch talks about all manner of things. From the wonders of vanilla car scents to her disappointment of the visitor not taking an enchanted lollipop (“Everybody wants an Australian accent!”) This one is always a favorite, and props to Scottish Murmurs for forcing me to look up exactly what is a “wild little haggis”.
