After a long time of being a multiplayer first-person shooter, Blizzard has decided to change up their style and give us Overwatch 2. This is an interesting step forward for the developers. During the second game, players will get more of what they want, a plot.
For Overwatch 2 , the game will take players to the second “Omnic Crisis.” The game is set sometime after Winston sent out the call for Overwatch to reform. This time players get to fight the hostile robots from the Omnic Crisis and see how the team came to be. The game will maintain the PvE modes and they will have four-player missions against AI. This is a good thing simply because players can gain experience to work on their characters.
The missions are a bit harder than I anticipated. Everyone has to work together to get through all of the enemies, and there were a lot of enemies. Most times the mission was feeling like you stepped out of your home base just to be shot down by everyone waiting on the other side of the door when the timer was up. This struggle may be due to a balance issue or that people were just trying the game in a new setting. Our team lost sadly, but at least we got 4 attempts at successfully completing the mission. It’s unclear if this is how every mission will be.
Overwatch 2 still maintains the same graphic quality and characters. There will be a new map or two however to look forward to. One of the best additions was the announcement that players of the original Overwatch will not lose any characters or loot when the second game comes out. This was a huge relief to current players.
I’m anticipating some awesome missions and group experiences when the game finally releases. For layers that enjoy more of a story mode, this will be a big game changer. And for original players, there will still be the ability to play the original version too. Now it’s all about the wait.
