Admittedly, most people probably won’t know this game since it didn’t really get a fair chance at being seen since the WiiU was at the end of its time. Tokyo Mirage #FE Encore, brought to us by Atlus, originally released the game right before the WiiU was on the way out, so now, Tokyo Mirage will get another chance to be seen and played, hopefully winning over the masses. With a crazy story and multiple things to do, the game already is living up to the hype.
Explaining the overall story is somewhat simple, but work with me here. In modern day Tokyo, Japan, a group of teens find themselves at the Fortuna Entertainment company that works with up and coming talent. Each person gives off energy called Performa and the Performa attracts Mirages which seek to take the Performa away from you for dark intent. Not all Mirages are bad but Fortuna Entertainment begins to use their company to fight the Mirages and the teens find their way into becoming Mirage Masters by teaming up with the talent agency.
There’s more to the story but at least you have the over-over-view. As you work your way through Tokyo you will encounter friend possessed by Mirages and you must fight them in order to release their Performa. The goal here is to save the world and regain memories. The story line is massive. There are two worlds to explore in this RPG and quests too.
Of the things to do, you can spend money, interact with other characters and do the side quests. This will help to get restorative items and restore HP and EP too which will come in handy. Along with this you can get protective wear, lottery tickets and other hidden things like treasure chests. Along with all of these goodies, players will be able to go to the Bloom Palace where rituals can be performed to strengthen their party. Since this is an RPG, you are also able to upgrade skills, each weapon carries four skills to be exact, that members can get by battling. There is skill stacking as well and up to six skills per character for passive skills.
During combat, each level will be opened by beating the current enemies. During this time puzzles will need solved and devices will need attention (switches to pull etc), and you have to do this all while avoiding traps. Basically, just be a good team and take turns fighting to Mirages so that everyone can get through the level in one piece and with loot. Each weapon is either Fire, Ice, Stun and so on and this can be changed per battle. The further you go in battle, the higher your experience will be, and in order to unlock the next segment, you’ll need to achieve the right stage level.
Overall, Tokyo Mirage Session #FE Encore offers a lot to get into. Tons of characters, many battles are ahead and the combat almost seems never ending. Fighting the Mirages is the goal while leveling up and becoming a Master too. Seems like this game will do just fine with this second release.
