I’m not one to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Why pick one day out of the year to show your love when you can do it everyday? Well this episode touches on the toxicity of a relationship between a band manager and his former talent/girlfriend.
Valentine is trying to get her life together after a roller coaster of a relationship with her former band manager Royal. She has a show at a local club on February 14, Valentine’s Day. How poetic. The whole time she is being heckled for the fact that people think she’s a fake, that she is making up stories about Royal and Trezzure (his new protege and girlfriend) about stealing her music and look.
Royal decides to pay her a visit at this club, and things turn very very deadly. We see that Royal is very much a gas-lighting, manipulative and abusive man. He corners Valentine and her other band mate in the club alone to threaten her.
We see the dark side of the music industry and how abusive powerful men can be. I enjoyed this episode this season. It felt like watching a Scott Pilgrim film with the cinematography and cartoon-ish themes. It has a lot of bright colors and a very interesting musical theme, I can assure that for fans of Scott Pilgrim, they will enjoy this episode of season 2’s Into the Dark.

My Valentine is on Hulu now!
