This might be a hot take, but I will say it. Killing zombie Nazis is a lot of fun. Zombie Army 4: Dead War, created by Rebellion Development, gives new meaning to the horrors of war. Shoulder your weapon, line up your shot and do your part to stop the undead. It seems the gates of hell has been thrown open. Let’s just hope you have enough bullets.

It is 1946 and Adolph Hitler, zombie Hitler, has been destroyed a year earlier. It seems the death of their master has not slown down the army of the dead. They have overrun towns and are heading toward the headquarters of the Resistance. Grab your trusty weapon, and maybe a friend or two. Maybe you will be able to see who is the mastermind behind this new outbreak.

Zombie Army started it’s undead life as a spinoff of the Sniper Elite. Dead War is no different. If you are a fan of the main series, you know what you are getting into. It’s all about lining up that perfect shot. Seeing the bullet rip apart a zombie as you get an x-ray is both disgusting and really fun. When you have to move around, stick to the shadows and the tall grass to get a stealth kill. Different weapons allow for a different type of kill and getting multiple shots in a row will give you special abilities. Sometimes, the only way is charge headlong into the swarm.

The environment is not just nice to look at. Things can be used to set traps so that the zombies return to which they came. The most insane one so far is an undead shark. This terror of the sea will chomp down anything that presents itself to it’s jaws. This includes any friends you play with. Multiplayer is fun, but good luck trying to figure out strategy when brains start flying.

Dead War is about killing zombies. That is a strengh and a weakness. If you go in knowing that this is all you are going to do, you will have a great time. If you are looking for changing gameplay as you progress, you will come out disappointed. After you get the basics, it becomes about sharpening your skills and getting that next level of experience. If that does not sound like your cup of tea, you might want to look elsewhere for your zombie killing fix.

Dead War is a fun game with plenty of gore thrown in. The death scenes are very realistic, even if the victim is a zombie. As a person who always tries to find the best possible situation, this game is right up my alley. A different level might be nice, but who has time for that when there are thousands of zombies to put down?
