Government control. That is what this game entails. The player builds the country from the ground up with a thriving economy. Rather than being set in a SimCity like format, it is the entire country!
Just like other RTS game, the player starts out with a blank slate. Unlike SimCity and other city builders, it is an entire country’s economy that has to be built from scratch. The fastest way to a booming economy is building industrial infrastructure. A country needs sustainability in order to flourish.
There are a variety of difficulty levels from Very Easy to Hard or Custom. With Very Easy just doing a fun, stress-free sandbox game with unlimited money and rubles.
Just like any economy, their people have demands as they work. In order to make the people happy, the government (i.e the player) has to make adjustments as the years pass to keep the population happy to live in the Soviet Republic. Just like the quote from Field of Dreams “If you build it, they will come.”, and by that I mean providing schools, malls and the cinema. The people are diverse and will like the variety of choices Soviet Republic provide.
I have little to no experience playing these kind of games. So it was an interesting learning experience. I struggled to figure out how to start. Then I decide to just have fun with it, so I built a society that made no sense.
The roads only went from one place to another but no way to connect the other roads. I built three parking lots next to each other with no reason for them to be there other than to park. I had no idea what I was doing but I decided to just roll with it. Funny enough, people started moving in and were pretty content with what I had built so far. I knew it couldn’t last so I had to learn more about how to play the game.
The music made it very inspiring to play, much like a Russian version of Sims music. Overall, I did enjoy playing the game even if I was confused at first.
