Does anyone ever figure in moving their builds when going through each challenge? Just from the previews, it was clear that someone’s building was going to go down. This happens at least once an episode and every time, our hearts break. These structures are not easy to put together and obviously they take forever to accomplish. So this week, the Brick Masters didn’t hold back on exactly what they were looking for this week.
Per the Brick Masters, the teams must complete the city blocks. Buildings should not be boring, and they must be mega buildings. Small details will count as far as the ground level (characters) and other aesthetics. They also want to see scale and size, as well as architecture building ability. Right away some teams should stand out with their capabilities in technical building, while others will stand out for their creativity. As always, one team will be eliminated but this week everyone gets 14 hours to create their hearts out.
For the first time, it was good to see Sam and Jessica are working well and planning together in advance. They plan to do fairytale tower with a jack and the beanstalk theme.
Mark and Boone will be building a food cart metropolis for their building. Very unique idea!
Christian and Aaron plan to conquer the scale. Their goal is to build a sustainable city, the model of eco- friendly living.
Tyler and Amy: Tri-scraper a three coil skyscraper, kind of like a DNA strand but colored for police, firefighter and medical workers.
Richard and Flynn are doing an Adventure Complex with themes, tropical, beach, winter and a fantasy forest area.
Mel and Jermaine: Winter Plaza, a winter wonderland in building form.
Krystle and Amie: cyberpunk city, with neon lights, dystopian background.
Tempers ran high with Mark and Boone because ideas felt discarded and time is always fleeting. This was the first time we saw them get heated and the room was tense. Not even I knew where the squabble was heading but the best friends worked everything out and worked their butts off making a masterpiece!
Using lots of small pieces on a large piece to add texture. Usually these pieces all come together in the same color scheme. This is a lot like using many small photos to make one giant image.
Big Blunder: Christian and Aaron’s mega eco building got bumped and the top half fell completely off! And Sam and Jessica’s fairytale stalk lost one of the few pieces they needed to sell their story! With tensions and competition so high, Aaron had to walk off and let it all out. Christian was there to support his teammate and keep him in the competition. It’s great to see everyone reaching out to each other. Everyone really came together for Aaron and that part of the emotional process is rarely seen.
What would the show be without a twist? Here’s what they came up with this week; put your city block under attack!! Chances to re-build (poor Aaron) and create an even more epic story!! Lot’s of chaos immediately happened. This added another 4 hours to the clock and I couldn’t be more relieved for Aaron. Now however, the stories are causing problems for the teams that were already struggling, and the ones that were completely confident in their creations.
When it all came down to the end, here’s how it went.
Top Two: Mark and Boone
Aaron and Christian
Bottom Two: Mel and Jermaine
Krystle and Amie
Winners: Mark and Boone (Food cart)
Going Home: Krystle and Amie
The brick masters lost it. Many tears were shed from all participants. It was different to see the Brick Masters break down when delivering the news. As we start to get down to the final teams, it gets harder and harder to see the teams leave. Next week looks like an even harder challenge, but maybe everyone will have fun too!
Next challenge: Race Day and Bridges
