Have you ever been addicted to drugs? No? Well, neither have I but I imagine that Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons is like drugs. I’m completely addicted to the game. This life simulator has people going out of their way to make new friends and connect on their Switch.
In full transparency, I haven’t played any of the other Animal Crossing games, because I didn’t have the systems at the time, so this is my first go at this. Tom Nook however, is well known with his kids Timmy and Tommy. They all like money and Tom is going to do whatever he can to get you to keep his scheme alive. So just for that, he’s not my favorite but I have to create, therefore I will give him all the Bells he wants.
This game is unique to me for the reason that you don’t have to know anything about the other games in the series in order to play. The beginning is filled with a lot of talking and rules of course, so you get acquainted quickly. From there, the to-do list is pretty clear. If I could change anything about the game, it would be the ability to bypass conversation that you’ve heard a million times. I just want to sell, or donate my stuff without all of the same text!
As you build your island in this game, you will need Nook Miles, because travel without friends is expensive. When you do travel to another island however, you’ll notice the different trees and fruit, among animals and more. One of the neat things is that the game is in real time. If you look outside your house right now and it’s raining, then the game has rain too. This may be a small thing but the concept is just fascinating to see.
Other than making friends, building things, and traveling. As soon as I opened the game up I noticed how crisp everything looks. The details are fantastic. For example, when you go into the museum, you’ll notice that the lighting is very true to what a real museum would look like. Very classy!
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a lot more in store (for example the removal of bugs in the game by the end of March), so I’m anxious to see what else I can do to progress my island.I’m ready to make all the money necessary to get the tools I need to keep adding to my little island population. If that doesn’t say something then I don’t know what will.
