Admittedly, we all have had a job, or more, where there’s at least one person that can do literally everything they want and won’t get fired. Paladin Studios created the most interesting bite-sized puzzle game that lets you be that exact person. Good Job is a top-down game for the Switch that makes chaos seem fun and taking a logical approach, less rewarding.

You’re the son of the boss in Good Job and therefore, you can do no wrong. If you do trash the place or make people mad then who cares! You won’t be fired. The character you are is bland so that you can dress in the wackiest trends. Finding unlockable outfits is part of the fun. Run around solving challenges by any means necessary.

In the upper corner of the screen, you get a timer and a money counter. With each task, the amount of damage you cause is calculated and is rolled into a score at the end. ‘S’ is the best score and the game tends to reward players with this grade after destroying the office with chaos. Players can also take a normal approach and solve the problems without damage too, but the rating probably won’t be as high. Is that really any fun though?

Mechanically you can pull on giant plugs to create slingshots, empty water bottles to make the floor slick and even toss furniture and bust windows if you want. There is literally nothing in your office that can’t be manipulated. Hidden items are around as well so go crazy. Picking up items and flinging them around is all really easy by just using the ‘A’ button.

Visually the game is exactly how I would imagine it to be. The environment is blocky but bright and easy to see. You don’t need to worry about hidden items through walls either. The developers really put a lot of work into the different levels of this game and it shows. This is exactly why your character doesn’t need extra features too.

Two downsides come to mind with this game and the first is that the loading screens take up quite a bit of time. As you transition from one place to another there is a loading screen. Besides that, sometimes the gameplay gets repetitive with the use similar mechanics. How you use these skills is up to your though, which is the best part.

Overall, Good Job is more of a game that you would play in bursts. You can also go back and replay it too in order to see the neat side and the chaotic side. Definitely worth checking out. There is a lot to laugh at, and Good Job is easy to play. Right now Good Job is available for $20 USD.
