Whether you are a Minecraft player or not, Minecraft Dungeons will satisfy your taste for a simple action adventure role-playing game. Developers Majong Studios and Double Eleven have created a simple, yet fun new version in the Minecraft universe.
The plot is a pretty simple premise. You and your friends are preparing to stop the Arch-Illager from taking over all of the illagers across the land. The Orb of Dominance has driven him crazy with power and you must now fight all the way to victory through dungeons to get to the Arch-Illager.
From the beginning, the game is exactly what would be expected from a Minecraft environment. It is charming and colorful and very inviting to players. Music in the background is very nice as well and comes together to create a neat atmosphere.
Players can choose to invite up to four players locally or play online for multiplayer. You probably want to have a diverse array of weapon wielding warriors at your side. These said warriors must be prepared to deal with randomly generated puzzles, enemies and traps, and of course, deal with finding treasure. Unlike other games, there is no real hierarchy when it comes to weapons. For example, as soon as you get in to play, you can choose whatever weapon you want, you don’t have to wait for an upgrade. There are some legendary weapons that have shown up but it’s unclear what you have to do to get them. This system (or lack thereof) also include armor, you can simply choose whatever you want for battle.
All around the game take about 4 hours. So this is a good little getaway for a game like this. Unfortunately the plot is very thin and doesn’t go very deep and honestly keeps players asking for more. Once you get past this then the hack and slash feel is pretty fun.
Since the game is still new there is a lot to still learn about the game. For now however, kids and adults can enjoy Minecraft Dungeons even though it is not the traditional Minecraft.
