Fall is beginning to come around again for those of us in the United States (and mostly the northern hemisphere) and that means we have gotten the update for Animal Crossing New Horizons. If anyone had put the game down between Easter and now, you might want to pick it back up to get the new DIY recipes and to enjoy the changing environment. As a first time player, this is also the first time I’ve been able to see how far players will go to change with the seasons too.
New creatures are available for the season such as the soft-shelled turtle, red dragonfly, monarch butterfly, and more that include the open water. This will add to your current catalog of creatures and give you more to give to Flick for models! Of course, there are resources to be found too! Acorns and pinecones are falling from the trees to assist in your crafting but this time the frequency of said drops has been awful.
During the Easter season where eggs could be found from different sources like the water, trees, the sky, the pinecones and acorns take what feels like forever to get. The company scaled way back on how much could be found. One day I shook all of my trees and ended up with 1 pine cone and 1 acorn but over 40 sticks to add to my pockets, not to mention wasp nests. Once you get over the constant hunting for enough supplies, then the season starts to feel cozy.
Other players have been hard at work redoing their islands for the season, especially Halloween. From creating fall leaves to lay on the paths to varied grass colorings and some really realistic graves, players cant be stopped when it comes to their crafting! Right now a lot of island hopping is happening too so other players can hang their seasonal outfits in different shops. If I could create my own design I would, but so far no luck. The villagers look super festive walking around in seasonal clothing which makes the environment that much more inviting.
Hopefully the game will maybe get an update to balance out how often people get their acorns and pinecones but I’m not holding my breath. I may just have to shell out Nook Tickets to bribe people with. Everyone is so nice though that very few trades (if any) really need to happen to make your island they way you want it. Enjoy the Fall season!
