So Nintendo went above and beyond yet again with their release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars. The 35th anniversary is here and there really isn’t any better way to celebrate than with three games packed into one place. The Nintendo Switch just got a lot more fun with Mario because players get to enjoy games from 1996, 2002 and 2007. They chose three pretty awesome games to jump back into. These games are also great for anyone that hasn’t experience the older games.

Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy all come as one game to the Switch, and bonus, the Switch connects to the big screen so you can enjoy the game on the go or at home with the family. As of right now, the games have been technically updated to try and fix issues from the old games. For example, camera angles and controls. The content however, is pretty much still the same so some people are a little upset about that. Since I have not played all three games fully, I am very excited to try Mario Sunshine and go further in Mario Galaxy.

Super Mario 64 is a fun adventure where Mario explores Peach’s castle trying to save Peach from Bowser (like always) and you enjoy many different worlds through the exploration. I vividly remember that jumping through paintings are a really big deal. With this game however, the camera absolutely sucked. Now this issue feels a lot more resolved. I also really miss playing this gem on the Nintendo 64, the Switch just isn’t the same type of feel.

Super Mario Sunshine is the one game I have never experienced before. Mario is on an island when a shadow Mario shows up and graffitis the island, leaving the real Mario as the one being punished. Mario gets a device called the F.L.U.D.D (Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device) that allows Mario to clean up and kick butt while also trying to save Peach. Peach this time is in trouble with Shadow Mario. At this time I can’t give any personal feedback but I hope the game exceeds my expectations because I’ve heard there is a great soundtrack!

Super Mario Galaxy focuses on Mario or Luigi travelling through space trying to save the universe and Princess Peach from Bowser. The next ultimate goal is to collect all 121 power stars from various planets and galaxies. The Wii version used the num-chuk to fight the bosses, but I’m not sure what to expect from the Switch yet. The motion should be accessible but it may not be exactly the same. I usually just had fun rolling through the universe.

Overall, I’m super excited to get in and truly experience each of these games even though I’ve already played a couple of them. These game are great for the family and the updates should make for a really great experience too. So grab your friends and prepare to celebrate the 35th anniversary with Nintendo!
