Welcome to the Hell in A Cell Review.
R-Truth vs. Drew Gulak (24/7 Championship)
For the first time in awhile, the 24/7 Championship was fought in a regular match. The match started with a Little Jimmy sighting as Drew beat him up in the middle of the ring. Truth had to wrestle and even chanbled John Cena for a little U Can’t see me. The ending had Truth roll Drew up for the pin. Truth was off running and Drew was pissed.
R-Truth beat Gulak to retain the 24/7 Championship
Jey Uso vs. Roman Reigns (I Quit/Hell in a Cell) (Universal Championship)
What type of match would we see? The answer showed a different level of Reigns. He was commanding at first, but as the match went on, he became distressed. At one point he was begging Jey to quit. Jey gave it everything he had, his biggest strength being his refusal to say the words. Jimmy came to try and reason with Reigns, but Reigns attacked him. This was what made Jey say the words. As Reigns was embraced by the elders of the family, Jimmy and Jey looked on in resignation and anger.
Roman Reigns made Jey Uso say I Quit to retain the Universal Championship.
Elias vs. Jeff Hardy
Elias has one of the best characters in the WWE, so sometimes he has to remind people that he can wrestle. This match with Jeff Hardy was good, and Elias made Jeff look a little like the Hardy of old. Jeff looked crisp too, and his defeat came as he let his emotions get the best of him. Elias grabbed a guitar, but Jeff took it from him and used it, causing a DQ. Elias is winner and his album drops tomorrow.
Elias beat Jeff Hardy by DQ
Otis vs The Miz (Winner gets the MITB Briefcase)
The match will be remembered for the last 2 two minutes. Before that, we got a pretty combative match between Miz and Otis. Morrison and Tucker were backing their boys up. Near the end, Morrison was caught by the referee trying to hit Otis with the briefcase. He was kicked out and during the moments that followed, Tucker hit Otis with the briefcase and Miz got the pin. Tucker said later he was tired of Otis being the focus of the team.
The Miz beat Otis and is now the holder of the MITB briefcase.
Bayley vs Sasha Banks (Hell in A Cell) (Smackdown Championship)
Now if you wanted a brutal Hell in a Cell, Sasha and Bayley had you covered. This was about excellent wrestling mixed with some insane spots. We knew this one was going to be good, and they delivered. When you have two people who trust each other to let it all hang out in the ring, you get this. Was it better then their Takeover match? Your mileage may vary, but it added to Hell in a Cell and to Bayley and Bank’s legacy.

Slapjack vs Bobby Lashley for the US Championship
This match came about from a challenge earlier in the night. Slapjack actually looked pretty good. He had a drop kick that looked as if he jumped nine feet in the air. Lashley was just too powerful and after getting him to tap out, he was attacked by the rest of Retribution. This brought out the rest of the Hurt Business and a brawl ensued. A short little interlude before the main event.
Bobby Lashley made Slapjack tap to retain the US Title
Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton (Hell in A Cell) (WWE Championship)
Three Hell in a Cell matches, the three best matches of the night. Drew and Randy went for what might be described as old school Cell match. They went to the top of the cage and Drew flew off. He looked as if he bit through his lip, but he still crawled back to the ring. He fought, but an RKO spoiled the comeback. Orton has the belt now and who might step up to challenge.
Randy Orton beat Drew McIntyre to become the new WWE Champion.
Match of the Night
Reigns vs. Jey: Simple put: This is the best storyline going for wrestling. We didn’t need insane spots or tons of blood. The emotional scars were quite painful enough. The only thing is that this storyline can end one way and I hope we get to see it’s electrifying conclusion.
Final Thought
Great show.
