Originally Iris Fall developed by Nest Studios was released December of 2018. This time however, they have been able to release their game further into the world and onto the Nintendo Switch. Iris Fall centers around light and dark. Puzzling your way through this casual adventure game will be sure to leave you scratching your head when it’s all over.
Iris awakes from a dream she was having to follow a strange cat. Upon following the cat, she realizes that she is in a theatre and that she is going back and forth through a pattern of light and dark. She eventually realizes that everything surrounding her is connected to her in some way.
Players follow Iris through the unique hand drawn world using features of light to reveal other pieces to the puzzle. Each puzzle helps continue the journey to the next area where Iris starts to get more answers about her connection. With the game being right around 5 hours, the puzzles are not too hard to manage. There are no battles or enemies within the game.
Iris Fall is strictly a non-dialogue game. Players must piece together what the game is trying to tell them to get the ending of the story. Understanding everything is the major part. With no text-based clues, Players will need to just pay closer attention to what is not being said to get the full meaning.
The use of light and shadow is in important part of the game. Iris must travel between these two worlds in order to move on to the next area. It requires thinking in two different worlds at the same time. This might seem easy, but you will have to use your brain.
Now with the game being released on the Nintendo Switch, more people will be able to enjoy the game wherever they want. So, if you like the neat hand drawn MC Escher type environment, you’ll definitely like this game.
