For certain gaming franchises it takes a while before they garner any type of worldwide recognition or respect, if said series gains that notoriety at all. “Grand Theft Auto”, “Yakuza”, “Metal Gear” – these game franchises all had slow starts associated with a lacking in growth in regards to their fan bases until each ended up releasing an iteration that opened the eyes of the masses – the “Tales” series is no different. Starting in 1995 on the Super Nintendo, the various “Tales” games have seen releases across dozens of systems during multiple gaming generations including the highly acclaimed “Tales of Graces” from gaming’s seventh generation. Being one of the more revolutionary action role-playing games to be released in the mid-1990s, the “Tales” experiences refused to ignore a story presentation similar to so many other games in existence then and even now. Taking inspiration from “Graces”, the action of “Arise” seems to be more focused on pushing the action so fans both new and old can really show off the battle system’s capabilities. It’s time to cook some campfire meals, fight giant bulls, and sidestep like your life depended on it in this “Tales of Arise” demo review.
