In most any genre, one of the most interesting stories is a good person who tries to do the right thing and is attacked for doing so. This is the problem facing Derrida Yvain, a man who discovered that a invention that his father helped create has a serious problem. His quest to make it right will take him away from the people who knows, and even from the time period he is from in RErideD: Koku Koe no Derrida.

Who Is Left in the World

Derrida is from a time in the future where a new technology has created a better civilization. The problem arises when he discovers that the technology has a serious flaw. He makes his first mistake by telling his boss about it.  The boss, Hans Andrei, has bigger plans for the technology and he sets out to wipe out anyone who gets in his way. Derrida survives and is able to escape by going into a deep sleep. He awakes to find himself ten years in the future where the technology has been weaponized., most of his family and friends are dead and Hans is still alive.

We can empathize with Derrida, a man who just wanted to do the right thing and finds his whole life upended because of it. This is a story that Alfred Hitchcock told many times, all though he never did it in a future setting. Hans is decidedly evil, a man who has achieved power in the future, but still wants to kill the person from years ago. We also start to see that the past might be able to be changed and this future might not be the only one available.

The Time Leaper

We all have those moments in our past that we wish we could redo. We think about how much better, or worse, our life would have turned out. RErideD takes these exercise and turns it into something less clear. Derrida still has to stop Hans in the past, but he must find a better way to do. While time travel is introduced in early episodes, perhaps the future might be worse then the current one. See how Derrida tries to fix it when RErideD  premiers on Crunchyroll on October 3
