Probably we don’t think that we will become one of the weakest characters in the land, a lowly and looked down upon slime. The anime That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime shows us that even a slime can have their day.
The Storm Dragon, Veldora
The last thing Satoru Mikam remembers is getting stabbed, the next thing he knows he is waking up in a cave. He finds to his horror that he is now a slime, although he is a slime who can eat almost anything and learn from it. Finding a dragon and a new name, Rimuru Tempest, he exits the cave and finds himself in a fantasy world full of ogres, dwarfs and other magical creatures. Finding out what exactly happened to him will put him into adventures with other people.
This new world is not some RPG video game, however some of the creatures do resemble their game counterparts. It seems that this world draws humans at the moment of death. Rimuru meets a woman named Shizue who was from World War II, his tales of modern Japan surprise her. Why people are summoned here is a big part of the mystery of the show.

These type of anime are very popular, but Slime manages to set itself apart by making the main character one of the lowest forms in this world. As he learns new skills, he starts to evolve, both physical and mentally. There seems to be no reason why he was brought here, but a mysterious Hero might hold the answers.
