As the pandemic has made its way around the globe, some place area trying to open up and others are taking a more relaxed path to getting past everything going on right now. For the fans everywhere of Funko, they are at home wondering what is going to happen with the conventions that have, or are going to be, postponed. Where exactly do you look for figures right now, and is it worth it? Here is an update on what fans can look forward to when going out (safely of course).

Emerald City Comic Con is a huge event every year and fans can always find exclusives at the event. Since Funko headquarters is close by, people would be tempted to go to the main store but they can’t right now and the convention was postponed. This left everyone high and dry in a way, but Funko has it covered. While paying close attention to the Funko website and their updates, I am happy to report that Funko is definitely still functioning.  Short staffed, they are getting creative to provide con coverage among their packing duties.

In March, when ECCC was supposed to happen, Funko went above and beyond to participate in the virtual convention. They had giveaways, limited edition vinyls (normally only at the event itself) and tons of digital content for anyone that wanted to check it out. Surprisingly they even had prices listed for anyone interested in the new stuff as well as listed times for each round of shopping availability. Since that moment Funko really took off and decided this was a cool way to keep up with fans, and for fans to keep up with Pops! Hopefully we will know soon if Funko plans to keep going with other virtual conventions.

If you are one of the folks that has to still go out and get all of your normal stuff, there is still a chance to find new figures. The standard places like Wal-Mart and Target have a decent amount. The downside to going to these places is, you shouldn’t loiter (technically) and there is a chance that the store won’t have massive turnover. This is due to Funko being behind in their shipping because of reduced staff. If you want to stay at home however, there are many more options if you’re still willing to wait.

A lot of people are still selling their vinyls on platforms such as Facebook and Mercari, but again I urge caution with this. Gamestop still has plenty of online content as well as Hot Topic, Pop In a Box and many many more. Funko has been trying to keep everything going with new releases as well, but expect the overload of new items to be coming slower than usual.

If you’re just bored, then this would be a good time to start looking around for your grail pieces. People may have them up for sell right now. Get creative with your search and be aware of the stores that are still open for you to buy in person.

If you want to get super creative though, make scenes with you figures and show us what you got! We like stories!
