Originally released in August of 2021, the game Big Farm Story by developers Goodgame Studios, was somewhat hidden. Among many top trending games, this one didn’t seem to draw people in. Now as more people have discovered a mountain of various genres in the gaming world, this casual RPG adventure simulator is really good for people that just want to relax.
In an unnamed city, you are asked to take over your grandpa’s farm. This is a farm you grew up on and know somewhat well. Upon arrival, you see the place has been torn apart from a bad storm and your grandpa is missing. Your mission: find grandpa and restore the farm. Luckily you have two close farms nearby that you can go to and get help.
Big Farm Story really does have a relatively smooth-flowing plot. Albeit there are a lot of fetch quests, this is generally how most of these games go. The player needs something to do in order to keep all the characters advancing. For some, this system can be very frustrating and take them out of the overall story. If using the co-op route, maybe friends can help you out on the farm and get some of these things done.
Upon opening the game, I really did wonder if this game was meant to be for mobile platforms. The graphics are great. Movement and playability is great too. The way the farm is laid out is just a lot like that one game called Farmville (you know the one). Items to collect shine and that was a bit confusing at first but helpful. Eventually, I got the basics down and started opening new areas, like the barn.
Buildings and farm plots must be opened (adding more space to the current building) via coins made from selling items or, from leveling up and getting specific coins at different stations. The governor in town manages one station and he requires construction coins and farming coins. More stations start to open as well for new content. This can be frustrating, but if you keep collecting items, you level up pretty fast. As you progress, more perks will open up, like fast travel.
Overall, Big Farm Story does have a decent story. The game also does have a lot of fetch quests, but the game makes up for it with the co-op ability, graphics, and music. Currently, the game is $19.99USD and has multiple DLC packs that are cosmetic based. This game is good to play if you feel like you want to get stuff done.
